Description

The East Coast Greenway (ECG) is the nation’s longest connected biking and walking route, a 3,000 mile network of multi-use paths and carefully selected roadways connecting communities from the Canadian border to Key West, Florida. To celebrate the organization's 25th birthday, a small group of volunteer cyclists and ECG staff will be visiting communities along the Greenway between August 24, when the first rider departs Calais, ME, and October 30, when the last rider pulls into Key West, FL, with the goal of bringing thousands of people out to the Greenway.

On September 3, the cyclist will head from Boston to Worcester, traveling in Waltham along the Charles River Greenway and the future Mass Central Rail Trail. We hope to catch up with him when the Land Trust leads an easy, one-hour walk along the river upstream to Prospect Street and back, or when the group visits the Watch City Bike Lab and Charles River Museum of Industry and Innovation between 1-1:30.
